Issue001, Edition 006, 2004, 03, 27.
And so... Issue001.7
================
Currently being received by 78 souls
===========================
Seventy-eight people - I fooled 78 of ye into thinking I know what I'm talking about? Brilliant!
When I started six issues ago I had eight people, all of them I knew; now I only know about 20 of you. Ah, da dinternet!
This is a hastily prepared Issue001, folks. Reason being, one of the events mentioned below is on tomorrow in Dublin.
Starting with that one then:
It's an event called the Big Bang, on in the Digital Hub, Thomas Street, Dublin, running from 2pm - 11.30 pm, tix are E13. An Irish sonic and visual art spectacular. Performing are Spectac, The Redneck Manifesto, Random, Neosupervital, Skatter (DJ Set); Rollers/Sparkers; Herv; The Last Sound and about 15 other performers of similar quality. About 20 visual artists show their skills on the day, also.
More info here: http://www.blackfort.org/big_bang/big_bang.html. This has a "Wonky" feel about it.
Of the bands above, here are some tracks for:
Random: Link 1;
Neosupervital: Link 2;
Rollers/Sparkers: Link 3
(Oh, and Random are headlining the TBMC on August 26th in the TBMC Dublin. I urge you to go, or at the very least check out their tracks on http://www.rndm.com)
August: two events to watch for:
Mor Festival (Aug 21 & 22) - easily the finest festival of the year in Ireland in 2003 is back for more: bands you've never heard of, playing in the clearing between the big castle and the forest down in Tullamore, County Offaly, with the most chilled and friendly people imaginable. Could I give it a better plug?
Part of the schedule was announced in the last week. See for yourself here: http://www.morfestival.com.
And no, I hardly know any of the bands, but last year on entry I knew only three bands and came out loving about 10 of them, so it's a truly fine event.
(Of course I've gotten myself into a fine pickle now, having booked flights back to Ireland for the wrong weekend - not sure what I'm gonna do right now! Hmmmm)
The 79Cortinaz are releasing their 'The Amazing Sound Of' single in the Dunamaise Theatre, Portlaoise on Saturday August 28th. Tix: E12 with a free single. They're very impressive, and unsigned. Here's a track of theirs to get a wee taste: Link 4
Moving forward into October, can you believe... but I have a reason for doing so. There's an event on October 27th for which there is only 100 tickets available. I've got a full 2% of the seating already booked for myself. I imagine there must be only some 30 or 40 pews left. It's for the very excellent Sufjan Stevens. And the venue is equally high quality, The Douglas Hyde Gallery in Trinity College. Here's the phone number - ring now: +353 (0)1 6081116. For those unfamiliar, Sufjan Stevens is from Michigan in the US, and he recently released a full album with songs about that state. Revealing stuff.

Oh, and finally, don't go clicking on the archive link below, I'd a server change-over' and lost the archive, I'll try and rebuild it between now and next issue.
Enjoy the music folks, there's a lot of great stuff out there!
